The United States Forest Service hasn't updated their shovel since 1964. That is why I have chosen to update the USFS Shovel for the design challenge. This shovel has a total length of 48 inches, with a spade that is 9.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches long. This wider spade is better capable for scraping, throwing soil on flames, and light chopping. The harsh point is suited for digging. Each handle piece screws together. Making the shovel be collapsible allows for more functionality and ease in packing.
